about steeped dreams
Hello, I’m Raquel!
I originally named this tea blog Steeped Dreams because I thought it was a clever play on "sweet dreams.” It was later brough to my attention that steeped dreams are made of tea was a genius take on a very popular song’s lyrics that I didn’t know existed. Erm—yeah—so we’ll just say that was the inspiration.
Tea has always been a part of my life. Growing up, my mom loved ordering green tea to accompany Japanese meals at restaurants and had a soothing chamomile before bed (she still does). It wasn’t until college where coffeeshop culture became a staple of everyone’s social life that I started to really gain a deeper appreciation for fine, steeped brews. After all, coffee was never my cup of tea.
I started Steeped Dreams in 2021 to share beginner-friendly tea advice for the modern tea drinker. I also strive to support the boutique tea industry and local economies by sharing reviews of global small tea companies and local tea shops around my hometown of Phoenix. As an avid tea drinker, Steeped Dreams has also allowed me to learn more about and grow my hobby in new ways. My tea collection now includes dozens of tea companies and tea types that I only discovered through writing for my blog!
About me
Favorite tea at the moment: Earl Grey with milk
Favorite treat to accompany tea: Shortbread

Always down for: Matcha (as long as it’s before 3pm)

A main focus of this tea blog is to only publish evidence-based, original, and quality writing. Many blogs out in the vast ocean of the internet will simply respin work they find on other blogs, unfortunately causing a long chain of copycat content that loses credibility and trustworthiness over time.
As the foundation for all published blogs, I spend the extra time to carefully comb through credible sources, such as scientific studies, market research, and news articles to find up-to-date and vetted information (unless it’s a review or opinion piece). For all review blogs, regardless of whether the product is gifted by a brand, I provide my genuine and honest opinion.
If you ever have questions on my sources or find any inaccuracies, please let me know!
